Practicing granny squares with old left-over yarns

So I needed some evening knitting, something qiuck but not too boring. Something new. Decided to give a second try on grandma's squares.

I decided to use three colors. I had at least some gray also but it didn't match. And I'm pretty sure there's some more staches somewhere. The yarn used is Novita's Kelo and I used a 5 mm crochet needle (or hook?).

What should I make out of these? I have now 5 green, 2 multicolor and 2 PURPLE ready.

It definitely isn't that pink, it's quite dark purple. The yarn has been out of sale for some time now, so no chance of buying more.

I also made blueberry muffins this morning. They were deeelicious. Didn't have any eggs so I hade to recreate the recipe. I put my version here (in Finnish).

Long time no sock

It's been a while but apparently I still got it! Made a pair of socks.

These were made for a friend, I wish everyone wore just ankle socks.

Bad picture, good colors.
Yarn used: Novita 7 Veljestä,
approx. size 44 EU,
3,5 mm needles
and 48 stiches!

My very first granny

So I finally decided to try a long overdue project. The infamous grandma's square!

Turned out quite nice for a first one. Not really hooked on them yet, might take a few, but someday I WILL make soemthing out of them. Who know what..

Took-me-forever poncho

A few years back I realized that I'd collected way too much of Novita's Puro yarn and I had to get rid of them. So I started to crochet, can't even remember how many stiches I used.

The problem was, I started this in the summer. Oops. After a few skeins it was starting to become a bit hot underneath. So it became one of those forever projects.

Last winter I finally decided to finish it, didn't even take too long. My all time fav poncho! And the best thing is, the neckline is so big that I can use it as a skirt as well! Must post a picture later.

144 stiches

After I'd h finished the alpaca poncho, I decided to make something from the same yarn, it was so damn soft! One night, sitting on the couch with my boyfriend, I had two balls of white alpaca yarn and size 5 mm in-the-round needles. I told him to pick a number between 50 and 200. 144. That's how many stiches.

I wasn't sure how much would 2 balls of yarn make with 144 stiches in the round. Everybody kept on asking what I was knitting, had to tell them I had no idea, since didn't know how much the yarn would make.

This is what turned out. First a scarf. No, this is enough for a top. Oh, a dress, yes, that's it.

A small skein of yarn was left, I could maybe make braces. But I might like it better this way.

And finally from the back. Easy, simple, pretty (, see-through, oops).

Recycling glory!

A few months back my dog had this thing for protesting while I was gone and she used to jump into my bed and tear apart basically everything in it. So my bedding sheets looked like .. well, a dog had had some fun with them.

Finally, I decided not to throw them away but to recycle them into something new!

Half of the sheet already ripped to shreds.

It's small, but it's a start. I think I started out with five stitches.

 More alpaca!

I actually made this for my bras, but didn't really feel like posting them on the internet. For some reason.

Mom's alpacas!

To be honest, the animals arent actually my mother's. I hope. But she sent me loads of alpaca yarn from Peru and I really had no idea what to do with them. This is what I came up with, for starters.

I AM happy with the result, even though it may not look like I'm smiling.

I thought this would take way more yarn, but I only got rid of the grey one.

I used 5 mm needles, could've been maybe a bit thicker. We can try again, there's always more where that came from!

Quite nice colors for autumn, don't you think?

Poorly packed luggage.

So, I was given a hint to start blogging in English as well, even though I've been pretty lazy at posting to my previous blog. Let's give this a try then!

So, I left for a trip for about two weeks and at some point I realized that I'd packed maybe two shirts with me. No idea what's been going through my mind at home. Most likely .. nothing.

I really had no choice but to walk to the nearest yarn shop and start knitting. Not that you'd actually need any clothing in this weather. Phew!

Aaaaaaand it's done! Just a basic free-knitted shirt really.

The yarn, Novita Miami, has a really nice feeling to it. I kind of like this! What should I do with the leftovers?
